The ROCK's
environmental art fund

In environmental art, there is tension in the relationship between the raw materiality of the landscape and the elaborate presence of the object of art laid on it.
It is this contrast
that gives way to the awe of a heightened aesthetic experience in the viewer.

Starting in 2023, The ROCK will commission and host environmental and sculpture artists from around the world to develop new work in the context of Hudson and Harlem Valley's naturalistic environment.

Inspired by its elder siblings Storm King, Art Omi, and its distant (but close to the heart) relative Castello di Ama in Tuscany, the ROCK Sculpture Park will be site to the interlocking of landscape and human artifact through installation art and artifacts sparsed along its boundaries.
